GE Plastics, a major supplier of advanced engineered plastics resins in Thailand, inaugurated a $20 million plastics compounding plant in Rayong. The plant is GE's first manufacturing facility in Thailand and will support the country's export-oriented industries and develop into an export base for Indochina.
The plant was completed ahead of schedule, becoming operational less than a year after the ground breaking. The facility has an annual capacity of 30,000 metric tons. It manufactures various compounded engineering thermoplastic resins, including polyphenylene oxide, polycarbonates and ABS. It also produces eco-friendly, flame-retardant engineering plastics.
Roughly 20 percent of the plant's output is for direct export to countries in Southeast Asia. The remaining 80 percent will be re-exported through products that are manufactured in Thailand using the plant's resins. Those include computer monitor housings, printers, faxes, small electronic components, compact discs and appliances.
The scope of services provided by EEC Lincolne Scott included all building MEP services including air conditioning & ventilation systems, electrical & communications systems, fire protection systems to FM Approval, plumbing & drainage systems, process piping systems and process control systems.
